A military veteran seeking a marketing position at a bank is told he would be more suited for a security position. Passengers become unnerved at the sight of a female airline pilot. A new father must justify to his employer why he deserves parental leave. A woman’s passion for coding is met with skepticism.

Even with the best of intentions, our beliefs and behaviors can negatively impact others when unconscious biases influence our actions and decisions. Are you biased? If you’re human, then yes.

Unconscious biases are deeply engrained, learned stereotypes that involuntarily shape our judgments about people’s character, abilities and potential. They’re part of each of us. What’s important is that we recognize and mitigate our biases so that we can adapt our beliefs and be fairer to those around us at work, at home and in our communities.

Hyperledger has a commitment to creating a community that is welcoming to all. With the help of VR, this immersive experience will help participants to understand what unconscious bias is and how to mitigate it.

NOTE: Due to concerns of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will not be using the VR headsets for this workshop.
